Not only Android 5.0 Lollipop has released the new Google Messenger who as acts SMS and MMS app, landed in Play Store. The app is compatible with all phones running on Android 4.1 and newer. We offer the app as APK for download.
Since mid-October, haunts the new Messenger app as an APK through the web and could be installed on smartphones with Android version 4.4 - this application from the ROM of a Nexus 6 extracts. Now, Google has officially turned over the lever so that the app can officially be installed from the Play Store.
In the application there is a new development of the SMS app from the AOSP whose development Hangouts fell victim. Google had until April this year, the Hangouts app into a universal messaging application developed, so with this, SMS and MMS messages could be sent. This combined solution was perhaps less experienced users too much of a good thing - something simpler had (again) ago.
The new Messenger provides just the features that you would expect of SMS and MMS app: It can send and receive messages, as appropriate formats. Also receiving and sending photos is possible directly from the app. In addition, you can also send voice messages instead of text - the creation of group messages is also supported. The look of the app corresponds Google's new material design and therefore fits into the visual language of Android 5.0 Lollipop one.
To install the app, there are two ways to choose: either moves to Play Store and concern the Messenger directly from Google, or - if the application appears to be incompatible - which we provide APK download it and install itself the app manually. Before installing the Messengers option to install from "unknown origin" or "unsafe sources" must be enabled in the security settings of the corresponding device.
